In early August 2010, the Houston Chronicle reported Tomball Concorida Lutheran High School's varsity football team as one of the top five private schools in the Houston area to watch.

Crusaders, Eagles among Texas Football favorites

The state 7-on-7 football tournament has yet to begin, but an annual reminder of the regular season has arrived.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine has been released, whetting the appetites of high school football fans and offering previews and predictions of teams across the state.

While predictions are as much for entertainment as anything, Texas Football indicates it could be a fun year for private school football in Tomball.

Concordia Lutheran is ranked behind only Second Baptist in TAPPS Division II, District 4, while Rosehill Christian is predicted to repeat as TAPPS Six-man Division I, District 5 champions.

Texas Football was already impressed with the Crusaders’ thrilling surge from 0-6 to the regional playoffs, selecting them as Army Strong Team of the Week in the private school division following last year’s playoff win against San Antonio Texas Military Institute.

With nine starters back from a team that upset Second Baptist in 2009, is this Concordia’s year?

Rosehill is clearly not expected to decline from its strong showing, predicted atop a district a completely different district field.

The Eagles bring back all but one starter and possess uncommon size for their division.
